Serpent Lake Fishery Summary
Serpent Lake is a popular fishery located in the heart of the Crosby–Deerwood area of Crow Wing County. The lake covers approximately 1,116 acres and stretches between the two towns, with Crosby located along the west shore and Deerwood along the east shore. The lake features about 8.9 miles of shoreline and includes two public boat accesses—one located in Crosby City Park and another just north of Deerwood.
Serpent Lake reaches a maximum depth of 65 feet, with roughly 32% of the lake shallower than 15 feet. Water clarity is excellent, often measuring around 19 feet or more, allowing aquatic vegetation to thrive. Surveys have identified more than 30 species of aquatic plants, which provide essential spawning areas, cover, and habitat for fish and other aquatic life.
Because of its structure, vegetation, and consistent stocking program, Serpent Lake supports a well-rounded fishery featuring walleye, northern pike, bass, crappie, and bluegill. The lake receives annual walleye fingerling stockings, helping maintain a strong walleye population.

I have used The Fish Guyd multiple times throughout my vacations and I will only book with him! I have seen first hand how he interacts with kids and patiently teaches them the art of fishing. Nick is very knowledgeable and is a great teacher. I consider myself a slow learner and I also didn't realize how much there was to catching fish and he was able to teach me, and the best part was he was patient and didn't make me feel dumb when I did things wrong. If I could give him 10/10 stars, I would. Darin Gerads2025-04-30Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Whether you’re targeting one species or there to just put numbers in the boat he will get you to what you are seeking.
